Instagram, you say?

So I have joined the Instagram band wagon! I got a text from Lisa at Always an Adventure in Kindergarten yesterday asking if I was going to do the Instagram thingy.  Hmmmm!  I was not entirely convinced I wanted to but I decided to give it a go.  I am so glad I did!  I love pictures of cool stuff teachers are doing in their classrooms.   I find it so inspiring to look at teacher creations and classrooms.  I am already addicted. (not that I really needed a new addiction)  I hope you decide to join the fun too!

My username is thephonicsphenomenon if you decide to look me up:)

I don't have many picts yet but give me time.

Just search #teachertalktuesday to find out what everyone is talking about!
(with pictures of course:)

Fiction and Non Fiction Tools Flash Sale

I FINALLY finished my nonfiction and fiction pack!  I have been working on it for the last few weeks and it has become almost an obsession:)  I took my previous story element pack and updated it and also added a nonfiction component.

In small group, I am always teaching the components of a story or non fiction text features depending on what genre we are reading.  I decided to create visuals to aid in teaching these skills.  I had hoped to blog more about my new pack but the night got away from me so stay tuned for more info in the future..... But for  now here's a quick peek!  If you like it get it NOW because for the next 24 hours it is half price!

I would love to hear any thoughts or comments you have about my new pack!  Also the first person to comment can have the pack FREE!

Hmmmmm.....A Deserted Island.....

I am linking up again with Flying into First Grade for another fun linky.

If I were stranded on a deserted island what three things would I take with me?

1.  I have a confession........I have a HUGE addiction to Coca-Cola.  I would need to take a 24 pack with me and ration it so it would last for awhile.  I think I would have to figure out a way to keep it cold because there is nothing better than a ice cold can of Coke.

2.  My IPAD even though I may not have power for long.  I could play games, read books, and even watch some videos for at least a little while.

  3.  My family which I guess may not really be considered a "thing" but I love them bunches:)  We don't get to spend a ton of time together a a family because my hubby travels frequently so a deserted island would be perfect.  We could relax on the beach and spend some quality time with each other away from the hectic every day monotony.  If my hubby is lucky, I might even share a can of Coke with him:)  Fun in the sun.....here we come!

Here are my water babies!  (summer 2012)

If you were stranded on a deserted island what would you take with you?

Teaching Genres in Small Group Freebie

Spring is here or supposedly it is.  I am still waiting for it in Ohio but at least the sun is shining!

I have been working on several things and I keep thinking of more to add or change so I never seem to finish anything.  So today I decided that I just had to stop and put something out there.  I really like having visuals to show my students.  I feel that it reinforces the concepts that I am teaching and it allows them to not only hear but see what I am talking about.  Also if I have visual cards to accompany what I am teaching then I don't forget to talk about an important skill or concept that I need to hit. (Sometimes that totally happens:)  One thing I have been trying to talk about with my students lately is genres (even with my at risk kindergarteners).  I have made visual genre cards to go along with our genre discussions.  I have decided to share a sneak peek with everyone so I am linking up with Freebielicious for the month of April freebie.  If you like it look for it in my TPT store for the entire set and if you don't see a genre that you need to target let me know I will add it to the pack.  (It should be available by tonight).

Click picture above to find more fabulous FREEBIES and
click on the picture below to get your genre freebie.!
(For some reason on Google Docs it shows up all white but if you download it the background is there--I am not quite sure what happened)

I hope you enjoy your freebie.  I would love any feedback you have about my genre cue cards and please feel free to share how you teach genres.  I would love to know:)
